Nestled in the heart of Bairnsdale, the Academy’s state-of-the-art facilities span ~1,000sqm over two floors. This project encompassed the refurbishment of bathroom amenities, carpark upgrades, and exterior enhancements including striking branding and signage, all of which set the stage for fitout of the vibrant learning environment inside.
The project’s location on a busy main street presented a unique challenge. Our team carefully planned and executed the demolition of the existing façade and installation of new external elements to minimise disruption to surrounding businesses and ensure the safety of pedestrians.
The addition of clerestory windows floods the first floor with natural light, while a natural colour palette, biophilic elements and circular furnishings create a harmonious atmosphere. These design choices were inspired by the concept of talking circles, emphasising the importance of gathering and sharing knowledge.
Academy Bairnsdale offers a range of flexible and dynamic spaces designed to cater to a variety of learning and collaboration needs. From studios and remote learning labs to a welcoming lounge with tea point, workspaces, and break-out zones, each space has been thoughtfully crafted to support professional growth. Throughout the project, Intermain prioritised the Bairnsdale community by actively engaging local contractors and skilled labour, ensuring that the benefits of this project extended beyond the walls.
