Thinking outside the grid transforms office space on Level 26 at 80 Collins Street.

Dexus engaged Intermian to refurbish an existing office space on Level 26, 80 Collins Street in Melbourne for a new tenant. Designed by Hot Black, the project faced a tight timeline, demanding close coordination between multiple trades working simultaneously.

One key challenge arose in the kitchen area. The existing ceiling grid, designed for three interconnecting tiles per space, posed a hurdle for the new feature ceiling tiles. To overcome this, Intermian devised an innovative solution: retrofitting the new tiles together with spinal support glued on the back to create three-piece units that seamlessly fit the existing grid. This not only achieved the desired aesthetic but also saved time and cost.

This unique feature ceiling exemplifies the project’s focus on innovative solutions while maintaining a tight schedule. The successful collaboration between Dexus, Intermian, and Hot Black resulted in a transformed office space that meets the needs of the new tenant.
