Intermain were delighted to once again partner with Ultra Football and ACRD in transforming the former Weylandts showroom and warehouse into their new flagship Melbourne store. This huge sports-themed complex encourages customers to try out apparel and equipment on the football pitch, chill out in the PlayStation lounge, browse innovative retail displays, and hang around for a coffee and haircut too.
Undertaken across two stages, the full scope of works completed by Intermain included:
- Basebuild works including services upgrades, demolition of the existing fitout, and new internal partitioning
- Construction of new amenities, entry tunnel, barber shop, lounge and retail areas, including an interactive wall fitted with tracking technology for customers to try out their new boots against a computer-generated goalie
- Construction and installation of the full-size indoor sports field and practice pitches with chainlink fencing and softfall areas. The pitches were constructed with a sand sub-base, 40mm shock pad, and finished with a specialised synthetic grass to meet FIFA Quality Standards
- Carpark works, extensive internal and external signage, custom joinery and new flooring and finishes throughout
Harsh COVID-19 restrictions limited on-site workers to 10 during parts of the construction program. Intermain’s team managed to mitigate this risk to the delivery schedule by splitting the site, allowing concurrent work to be safely undertaken by our team, and another contractor working on the cafe fitout. These measures meant only two weeks were added to the programme, allowing the store to be open in time for the busy Christmas period.
