New chapter for the McKell Building
As the chosen delivery partner, Intermain’s team worked closely with the architectural and services consultants to interpret and realise the design intent. Working within an older Sydney CBD building brought a range of challenges, particularly latent conditions that required careful management and coordination across trades. As these conditions emerged, our team collaborated closely with the architectural and services consultants to develop practical solutions that maintained design intent and programme progress.
The delivery phase also required navigating multiple client-driven design revisions and late-stage stakeholder inputs. Through proactive communication, disciplined project control, and strategic re-sequencing of works, Intermain ensured the project remained on track without compromising quality.
From breakfasts to broadcasting, a multi-purpose space
The space offers versatile event and networking areas designed to accommodate a wide range of functions and activations, complemented by a studio space for future broadcast and content production. The event and networking spaces were designed for versatility, able to accommodate a wide range of functions and activations. Sustainability remained a core focus, with a comprehensive waste management plan implemented to minimise landfill and maximise recycling of project waste.

This vibrant space was immediately popular, seeing a near full schedule of bookings prior to completion. The project has delivered a vibrant, agile, and future-ready space that embodies the NSW Government’s commitment to connected, people-focused workplaces, also adding to Intermain’s portfolio of NSW Government projects.
