Fairfield Connect offers students and the community access to facilities including computers, high-speed internet, and advanced video-conferencing capabilities, enhancing accessibility to higher education in the Western Sydney region.
The 1,000sqm space fosters creativity, learning, and engagement, and features teaching rooms, multipurpose event spaces, private meeting and study rooms, and open-plan seating areas tailored to accommodate various learning styles and activities.
Inspired by WSU’s forward-thinking spirit, the fitout incorporates vibrant colours, dynamic layouts, and cutting-edge AV conferencing technology. One distinctive feature of the space is the inclusion of accessible prayer rooms, providing a dedicated space for spiritual reflection and worship.
Sustainability and procurement management were essential to the successful project outcome, with our team utilising local manufacturing and suppliers, and repurposing furniture from other WSU campuses to minimise waste, reduce costs and shorten timelines whilst creating a cohesive design aesthetic. Intermain’s in-house Joinery team delivered cabinetry for the kitchen and lockers, as well as desks for the meeting rooms and service area.

The project was completed in two stages, with a tight early deadline for a key stakeholder presentation. A condensed design development period was overcome through Intermain’s adaptability and problem-solving skills. Effective resource allocation, streamlined processes, and efficient decision-making ensured the project stayed on track.
Throughout this project we demonstrated our ability to think creatively, be flexible to the client’s schedule, and forge partnerships within the community. By doing so, we delivered a remarkable space that is both environmentally responsible and aligned with the client’s vision, exceeding expectations while adhering to budgetary and timeline constraints.
