Women aren’t just a quota at Intermain
Women in Construction Week | International Women’s Day 2023
Every year Women in Construction Week and International Women’s Day gives us the opportunity to shed light on embracing equality in the construction industry. Joined by the Western Sydney Wanderers Women’s team, we held an event to celebrate all the amazing women we work with and attended an inspiring breakfast at the Property Council Australia’s International Women’s Day event.
Construction is one of Australia’s largest industries and yet only 12% of the construction workforce is comprised of women. With a massive 105,000 additional construction workers needed to deliver Australia’s pipeline, staff shortages pose a big threat to the industry. So much so, the government is investing in encouraging women into the workforce with states like NSW setting ambitious goals of women occupying 15% of trade and non-traditional roles by 2030.
Currently, we are making leaps and bounds in our gender ratios. 20% of our executive team and 25% of our workforce is comprised of females, making us industry leaders in gender equality. However, our women aren’t just a quota. Like everyone in our team, woman at Intermain are valued for their contribution, skills, talents, ideas, experience, and the diversity they bring to the delivery of impressive spaces for our clients.
At Intermain, we are taking steps to invest in women’s professional development and networking, leading to women’s growth and success in the industry, and ultimately, we are working towards building a brighter, more inclusive future.
