A new chapter of wellness with One Playground

One Playground’s North Sydney location is a landmark fitness destination designed to redefine the traditional gym experience. Spanning 1,836sqm across four levels, the new facility at 155B Miller Street features 5 unique training studios, traditional recovery saunas, dedicated strength floor, end-of-trip facilities, Intermain joinery, and dynamic lighting for an immersive experience.

North Sydney is the second location delivered by Intermain in 2025, with One Playground’s Haymarket delivered earlier in the year. The North Sydney project was delivered on time for the client’s grand opening within a 16-week program.

Designed for both performance and tranquillity

Guided by the client’s concept of “Transcendence”, the project integrates health, wellness and innovation to create an immersive environment that elevates fitness beyond the ordinary. Intermain worked closely with the client and architect to ensure every element reflected this vision – from refined finishes and seamless service integration to bold, mirrored ceiling features that enhance the sense of movement and energy throughout the space.

Navigating complexity with innovation and collaboration

Delivered above the live environment of Victoria Cross Metro Station, the project required meticulous coordination to overcome access constraints and incorporated several client-driven design changes, without compromising program timelines. 

Further innovation was applied to integrate services within Newmat stretched ceilings and deliver mirrored ceiling elements without mechanical fixings – demonstrating the creative problem-solving and precision execution behind the project’s standout design.

Sustainability and performance built in

Sustainability was a priority, with alignment to Green Star Fitout requirements achieved through acoustic treatments, responsible material selections and waste reduction strategies that diverted industrial waste from landfill. The result is a distinctive, high-performance space that combines functionality with striking design.
