Intermain are proud to have supplied and installed custom joinery at the recently completed Gregory Hills Public School project. We helped the team at Lipman bring to life new permanent facilities for students in Kindergarten through to Year 6. The facilities include 44 classrooms, four support classrooms, a staff hub, library, a communal hall, and a canteen. Showcasing a seamless blend of practicality, design, and innovation tailored to meet the needs of a modern educational environment, every piece of joinery was carefully crafted to enhance functionality while contributing to the overall aesthetic and usability of the school.
Functional Joinery
The integration of functional finishes into the joinery highlights the importance of creating versatile spaces that support teaching and learning. Whiteboard surfaces were incorporated into joinery pieces, providing dynamic teaching tools and collaborative opportunities for students and educators. Colourful pinboards added vibrant accents to the rooms, offering a practical solution for displaying artwork, notices, and project materials while creating visually stimulating environments. Acoustic elements were also embedded within the joinery, addressing noise control and ensuring classrooms and shared spaces foster focus and productivity.
Commercial Kitchen and Canteen
The addition of a commercial kitchen and canteen to the school hall represents a thoughtful approach to multi-purpose functionality. Designed with high-quality joinery and professional-grade fittings, these spaces support the school’s catering needs for daily meals, events, and special programs. The seamless integration of these facilities into the school hall ensures versatility, enabling the space to transition smoothly between functions while maintaining a cohesive design.
Innovative Ceiling Solutions
In a departure from traditional suspended ceilings, “clouds” were introduced to integrate essential services such as lighting, electrical components, and ventilation. These cloud installations not only provide practical functionality but also serve as striking design features that enhance the spatial experience of the school hall. By eliminating the need for a suspended ceiling, the hall achieves a more open and expansive feel while maintaining a clean and organised look.
