Intermain HQ Wins Gold for Workspace Interiors

Intermain’s Sydney headquarters, designed in collaboration with BVN, has been awarded Gold in the Workspace Interiors – Corporate Offices (Under 2,000 SQM) category at the 2024 World Interiors News Awards.

Designed in collaboration with BVN Architecture, our Alexandria office reimagines a factory space into a vibrant and functional workplace. The centerpiece of the design is a series of two-storey timber pods, built from plywood diverted from landfill, which house a boardroom, meeting rooms, and a joinery design studio. Positioned to overlook the joinery factory floor, these pods offer a playful, collaborative environment that fosters creativity and innovation.

What the Judges Said

“The playful aspect of the pods overlooking the factory provides a sense of intrigue. The modern, bright, and welcoming spaces reflect the design team’s focus on reuse and repurpose, using offcuts and waste effectively.”

The fitout incorporates sustainable design principles throughout, including timber, concrete, and cork for acoustic and aesthetic functionality. Disassemblable partitions, recycled materials, and second-hand furnishings reinforce Intermain’s commitment to sustainability. Bold accents from Intermain’s brand palette complete the design with a dynamic visual identity.

This recognition underscores our dedication to creating inspiring, sustainable workspaces. A big thank you to BVN and everyone involved in this transformative project!
