As co-working spaces push beyond their tech start-up roots in San Francisco, a new model is emerging that responds to the needs of a broader range of creatives, including graphic designers, architects, film makers, web developers and young entrepreneurs. Providing a place to get the benefits of the shared working environment –work spaces, meeting rooms, board rooms and communal areas that provide a hub to meet up with other like-minded companies – the Netherland’s based Regus group has emerged in Australia with some of the most interesting offerings.
Now found in more than 900 cities around the world, Regus is a creative co-working concept that most recently opened its doors in Australia in Surry Hills, Sydney. The Intermain design and construction team collaborated with the Spaces design team in the Netherlands on the initial design to transform the 1,500 square metre warehouse into a collaborative office. Arranged over two levels, it includes small meeting rooms, shared offices and private, and larger conference and board rooms. With an outdoor entertainment deck, eat-in kitchen, library and lounge area featuring polished concrete floors, timber detailing and plants.
